Rock of Ages Festival

Rock of Ages FestivalThe Rock of Ages Festival is looking to find partners in ministry within Bay Area churches. Each year our ministry continues to grow; all by the grace of God. However, with growth comes more responsibility … and here is where churches come in. We would like to form a relationship with healthy churches throughout the Bay Area; a relationship that is mutually beneficial. Each year we present the Gospel of Christ Jesus to those in attendance and make several altar calls. There are always individuals who respond to that altar call, walk up to the front of the stage, give their life to Christ Jesus (praise God!) and fill out a commitment card. Our goal is to use those commitment cards to find a healthy church to direct those individuals to; a church that will come along side of them, plug them into their body, and welcome them into the family of God. If your church is interested in partnering with the Rock of Ages Festival, please visit our church partnership page and fill out the submission form.

Napa Valley Cinco de Mayo

Napa Valley Cinco de Mayo Cinco de Mayo commemorates the Mexican victory over superior French forces by 5,000 untrained and outnumbered Mestizo and Zapotec Indian guerilla troops under General Zargosa at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862. Although the French later occupied the town of Puebla and were not defeated and expelled for several more years, the victory at Puebla filled the people of Mexico with enthusiasm for their country, and played a role in the eventual success for the progressive reforms of Benito Juarez. Moreover, Cinco de Mayo symbolizes the right of people everywhere to self- determination, and of the ability of indigenous people to withstand an aggressive and expansive culture.

The Louie Vermeil Classic

The Louie Vermeil ClassicCalistoga is not only a picturesque dirt track, it is one of the oldest, continuously operated race tracks in the nation. The big half-mile oval is also one of the largest and fastest dirt tracks in the western United States. In 1937, as the Model A was dominating America’s roadways, a promoter with the colorful nick-name of “Fancy Pants,” came to town with a fancy idea. The town’s horse racing track was ideal for another kind of horsepower, he believed. He persuaded the town’s leaders to promote a car race on the Napa County Fairgrounds. About a dozen cars showed up for an afternoon of hippodrome-style speed exhibitions. It was the beginning of a tradition that has endured for 72 years. Except for the years of World War II, when all racing in the nation was put on hold to conserve fuel and rubber, Calistoga Speedway has hosted open-wheel race cars, from spindly wire-wheeled wonders with four cylinder engines to midgets and the V-8-powered, winged and modern sprint cars of today. Calistoga’s first racing heros were family names that are still found in the Napa Valley, such as Figone, Normi and Pacheteau.
