Wine Swirlling

Now that you’ve inspected the clarity and color and have gauged the maturity of the wine, it’s time to give it some air and let it breathe, releasing what it called the bouquet, aroma or nose of a wine, through the highly technical process of Swirling. When you first try Swirling, choose a level surface, like a table or tasting countertop, place your glass on it and holding on comfortably. Swirl the wine in a circular motion, creating a vortex in the glass. After a few times you should be able to pull this off without the support of a level surface, but unless you want to wear your wine, or worse, slosh it on the stranger next to you at the tasting bar, practicing this technique will keep you from embarrassing yourself in public.
