Napa Valley
| Calistoga | Activities | Recreation

Mount Saint Helena Golf Course is located on the grounds of the Napa County Fair in beautiful Calistoga, California at the north end of the Napa Valley. It is located on the Northwest corner of the Napa County Fairgrounds, with entry off of Grant Street The golf course facility, a nine-hole layout, par 36 (2,759 yards) is attractive to golfers of all ages and skill levels. The course is ideal for the novice or younger player because of its length, flat layout, and open architecture. It can be a challenge to the more advanced players because of its narrow tree-lined fairways and smaller greens which demand more accuracy.

Bicycling - As opposed to a guided tour where you simply following the leader , our self-guided tour is geared toward you, personally. We give you all the tools we think you may need to have a great day in the peaceful Calistoga vineyards and wineries and then set you out on your own to explore. Your own personal check-in time between 10:00am and noon in our new Calistoga Cool Wine Tour Center - or, "Wine Hut" for short - will ensure that we have plenty of time to help you set up your day. We even make reservations at spas and restaurants for you if you like! The new Calistoga Cool Wine Tour Center at Calistoga Bikeshop First, our wine touring concierge will provide an overview of the different participating wineries in and around Calistoga, and together you will choose a route to meet your wishes and expectations. In addition, you will also get a fun, short educational piece on the art of wine tasting, if you like, with a little "cheat-sheet" to take along. A souvenir wine tasting glass, which is yours to keep, and a special wristband will entitle you to free tastings at our participating wineries and discounts at a local deli for you to choose your own picnic lunch

Oat Hill Mine Road - During the 19th century this was a busy road, the trail was used to hauls supplies and ore to the mine camp at the top of the hill. There was also a stagecoach route which followed along this trail. When you are riding up the Oat Hill Mine Trail it is very easy to visualize someone struggling up this road in a horse drawn wagon or stagecoach. The path would be difficult, as the trail gets very narrow and washed out in places. Higher up the trail there are ruts carved by the wagon into solid rock of the trail. The mine was closed eventually and the stagecoach made obsolete by trains and later cars. The trail fell into disuse until adventurous motorists with 4 wheel drive trucks and jeeps discovered the trail. For the 4-wheelers this place was a great challenge. The trail was so narrow at points that would scrape the paint off of the side of the truck to squeeze past the narrow spots. Eventually in the late 80's this path was closed to 4 wheel drive vehicles because of fatalities on this trail.

Hiking Mount Saint Helena - The journey to Mount Saint Helena’s summit takes you high above the Napa Valley vineyards and through territory that inspired some of Robert Louis Stevenson’s writing. Upon reaching your lofty goal, you’ll see Northern California’s hills, ridges, and mountains stretching in all directions. Bring binoculars.

Robert Louis Stevenson State Park is the place where the famous author of Treasure Island and Kidnapped spent his honeymoon in 1880. Although nothing remains of Stevenson’s cabin, the site is identified on the trail to the summit. The area features rough terrain, with evergreen forests in the canyons on north-facing slopes and chaparral on the south-facing slopes. There is a five-mile hike to the top of Mt. St. Helena from which one can see much of the Bay Area. On good days the top of Mt. Shasta can be seen, 192 miles in the distance.

Triple Creek Horse Outfit - We guide small groups of riders through the beautiful Wine Country on healthy, lovingly cared for, and gentle horses in three separate sites in the Napa and Sonoma Valleys.
