Howell Mountain’s wine-making history stretches back to the 1800s. In fact, in 1889 Jean Adolph Brun and Jean V. Chaix made history by winning a bronze medal in the Paris World Competition. Just 10 years later, W.S. Keyes walked away with the gold medal proving just how strong the wine-making industry in Howell Mountain had become. The years following prohibition have been good to Howell Mountain. Many award winning wines have been produced here, on the slopes of Howell Mountain – just above the fog line, in what became the very first sub-appellation of Napa Valley in 1983.
