We give Old World Inn The Old World Inn's Main House (1556 Polk St) was built in 1874 and a large additiion was added in the late 1880s. The Queen Anne addition was the creation of one of Napa's premier architects: Luther Turton. Rumor has it that the building was remodeled (in the early 1900s) by the same E.W.Doughty that built the original inn a block away-- but we are still checking the accuracy of this claim. Just in back of the main house are two lovely Craftsman cottages, built around 1906. Both of these cottages and the main house have been restored to maintain their original architecture—with the addition of brand new plumbing, electrical, and all new heating/cooling (with thermostats in each guest room). Each home feels friendly and relaxed, with warm wooden moldings and hardwood, stone, and tile floors throughout. Rooms are sunny and inviting, a perfect place to rest at the end of a long day. Featherbeds, fireplaces, individual private baths, and private 2-person spa tubs are just a few of the many features waiting for overnight guests. |
