Scrubs help circulation and are a wonderful
way to invigorate your skin.
According to Carol
Endler Sterbenz the abrasive action of the salt will remove
dead skin cells and open pores, allowing them to breathe. In beauty
salons the word "Scrub" is used to describe a
cleansing or exfoliating the skin. In Asian traditions, scrubbing
the skin is common, especially among women. A vigorous scrub not
only softens, stimulates and cleans the skin but also makes it
look lighter.
Prior to modern soaps and cleansing agents, women would use sandalwood
powder, blends of local herbs and plants as natural astringents.
Under the guidance of medical and holistic practitioners, natural
and indigenous ingredients have been combined, following time-honoured
recipes, from the Indonesian archipelago to produce what is known
as Esens Scrubs. The effects and benefits of the Esens Scrubs
vary:
Sea Salts or garam laut - natural antiseptic, stimulating, exfoliating
Lavender Scrub or scrub bunga - relaxing lavender scent for cleansing
Herbal Scrub or rempah - cooling and calming to inflammed skin
Spice Scrub or boreh - warming, stimulating, good for blood circulation
Javanese Scrub or lulur - exotic, romantic, skin beautifying
Salt Scrub Recipes
Peppermint Salt Scrub
Like to make up your own salt scrub recipes? It's fun and easy
to do:
Grind 1/2 Cup lentils in coffee mill or blender till fine.
Grind 1/2 Cup almonds till med coarse.
Mix Peppermint essential oil with 1/2 cup almond oil & add
Sea Salt till blended and add lentils and almonds.
Scented Salt Scrub
Because oils have been added to the salts, this scrub will create
a healthy glow and moisturize your skin as well. To use, scoop
out a tablespoon or two and begin to massage it onto your skin
while in the shower or bath. Work in a circular motion, starting
with your extremities and toward your heart. Leave the scrub on
your skin for 5 to 20 minutes, and then rinse off with cool water.
3 cups fine sea salt
1/2 cup of olive oil
1/2 cup of sweet almond oil
1/2 tsp. tree tea oil
1/2 tsp. eucalyptus oil
1/2 tbsp. peppermint oil
1 tbsp. rosemary oil
Mix salt and oils, then add the essential oils. Store in a tightly
sealed glass container. Will keep up to two weeks in refrigerator.
NOTE: do not use any equipment with copper, aluminum, cast-iron
or Teflon finishes. Do not use on cut or irritated skin.

Our sea salt scrubs are an intense sea salt scrub designed to
really get your circulation going; and to remove dead skin cells.
Use on your thighs, buttocks, stomach and maybe even your feet.
Comes in a 6 oz jar. Includes rock sea salt, sunflower and safflower
oil, honey, glycerin, kaolin clay and essential oils. The great
thing about using a sea salt scrub; rather than a sand, pumace
or even a loofah scrub is that sea salt dissolves into your bath
water to avoid clogging of your drain when done the treatment.
