St.
Barthelemy Cellars - While we cultivate our own vineyards
dedicated to growing grapes for our ports, we have forged relationships
with vineyard owners and growers in order to harvest the best quality
grapes at the ripeness levels we seek. The hand-harvested grapes
arrive at the winery picked much later than grapes used for a still
wine. The longer “hang time” of up to one additional
month on the vine allows the grapes to develop higher levels of
ripeness and more intense flavors. At the winery, the juice is tasted
daily during fermentation in order to determine the optimum time
to fortify with brandy. Combined with testing the wine’s natural
sugar content, we use taste as the main factor when deciding to
stop the fermentation process. We then add aged brandy from RMS
Caneros Alambic Distillery to raise the alcohol level and halt the
natural fermentation of the wine. The wine, now a port, is then
put into oak barrels to age for 18 months.

Laird
Family Estate - We have seen a family dream come to
fruition, from vine to tasting room, based primarily on the incredible
diversity and quality of our vineyards. The stewardship of these
vineyards began nearly twenty-five years ago when many pioneer farmers
passed on critical knowledge and techniques to Ken Laird and later
to son Justin, all in the spirit of kindness and helping hands.
Several of these farmers, like Guillermo “Willie” Medina,
were there in the beginning and continue to play core roles within
our vineyard operations. Today Justin oversees nearly 2000 prime
vineyard acres for Bayview Vineyards, the Laird’s vineyard
management company. While Bayview Vineyards is small and completely
family run, it serves over 35 ultra premium wineries including our
own family label.

Reynolds
Family Winery - My interest in wine started when I
was living in Germany as a young teenager. Wine was always part
of our daily life and my father often took the whole family on wine
tasting trips through Europe. At the time we’d curse him as
we spent our day throwing rocks into a pond while he tasted. Now,
of course, I’m grateful to him for sharing his passion and
infecting me with his enthusiasm. My father and I dreamt of building
a winery together and our vision became reality when my wife, Suzie,
and I traded my dental practice for the life of wine growers in
1994. I’d like to say that we moved in and started making
wine on day one. But the truth is the property was a 100-year old
chicken ranch that needed lots of love but was full of potential.
It took us over a year to clean up and begin renovations. I acted
as general contractor, and built everything from the fences to the
tasting room. Apart from having to live in a friend’s garage
for six months, we can now say it was a labor of love.

Broman
Cellars is a small, family operation located in the
heart of the Napa Valley. Renowned winemaker Bob Broman creates
our small lots of handcrafted wines exclusively from Napa Valley
grapes. We have long term contracts with several highly acclaimed
vineyards. Our Cabernet comes from Beckstoffer's Dr. Crane Vineyard
in St. Helena and Georges III in Rutherford; and our Sauvignon Blanc
from the Melrose Vineyard in Rutherford. Our Syrah is harvested
from the Page Nord vineyard in North Napa. We have also just planted
a small, two-acre vineyard in St. Helena on our Deer Park Road property,
which is below the Howell Mountain appellation boundary on the western
facing slope. Take a few minutes to read the next few pages. They
will give you a better idea of what Broman Cellars is all about.

Del
Dotto - The Del Dotto’s cave was one of the first
wineries in Napa Valley, hand dug in 1885. They began aging their
red wines in the caves after restoring it in 1997. It became evident
that “Cave Aged Wines” were more voluptuous and opulent
than wines aged in modern facilities. Come and experience wines
thieved right out of the barrels! Taste the difference between barrels
made from the great forests of the world, up to 45 different flavors
of highly rated wines. Voted #1 wine tasting by world wine critics!
The Caves are candle-lit Friday through Sunday and Italian opera
plays until 4pm. After 4pm the Doors and Santana! Cave Experience
and Barrel Tasting includes barrel tasting in the cave out of several
types of different oak barrels. Following the barrel tasting you
will sample select bottled wines along with handmade chocolate truffles
and cheese. Finishing off with a sampling of our ports.

Elyse
Wine Cellars - What will you find in a bottle of Elyse
or Jacob Franklin wine? I make wines that I want to sit down and
enjoy – juicy, rich, voluptuous wines. I like a little oak,
but I don’t want it to be overpowering – I want to taste
the fruit. I love wines that pair well with food. A meal without
wine is eating; a meal with wine is dining – it’s a
conversation, an event. It’s what wine is about. When I make
a wine, my tastes and techniques will influence the process, but
what’s most important is the fruit. The fruit dictates what
the wine will be. We’re fortunate to work with an amazing
group of growers and vineyards, whose fruit keeps taking us to wonderful
places. We started out making Zinfandel, then expanded into Cabernet
Sauvignon and Petite Sirah. No doubt those will continue to be the
focus of our winemaking, but now we’ve made a tiny quantity
of Chardonnay, and soon we’ll be releasing our first Pinot
Noir. What wines we make after that will depend on the fruit that’s
available, because I just can’t say no to wonderful fruit.

Jarvis
Winery - The Jarvis winemaking facility is totally
contained within 45,000 square feet of cave tunneled into the
scenic Vacas Mountains four miles east of the town of Napa. It
is not only a visual masterpiece, but a technical masterpiece
as well. The underlying principle behind the Jarvis cave construction
is that a parabolic shaped tunnel is inherently stable, so the
cave tunnels and chambers are in the shape of a true parabola.
Throughout the cave’s design and fixtures you will find
many arches, subtly echoing its parabolic structure. With the
help of Jim Gangwer and other artisans, the cast bronze doors,
brass wall sconces, arched alcoves, and fiber optic chandeliers
add to the mystique and beauty of the cave. William Jarvis has
designed and created a unique cave winery which functions to produce
ultra-premium wine, but which in form alone creates an incredibly
beautiful atmosphere in which to enjoy the very wine it produces.
