The four brothers grew up in the Napa Valley where
they first experienced vineyard work and home wine
production with their dad and mom on an annual basis.
In 1999, they commercially established the family
winery and the vineyard management company. The following
information details each of their scholastic achievements
and professional experience.

Matthew received his Bachelor of
Science in Health Science from St. Mary's College
in Moraga, California. In pursuit of a career in Cardiac
Rehabilitation, he attended East Stroudsburg University
of Pennsylvania and completed a Masters of Science
degree in 1995. While living in San Francisco and
working in the medical field, Matthew traveled home
to Napa on the weekends to make wine during the harvest
season. After three years working in cardiac rehabilitation,
Matthew forfeited his position at the hospital and
moved to Florence Italy where he studied language,
wine, and "la dolce vita"! Upon his return
to the Napa Valley, the four brothers established
the Buoncristiani Family Winery bond and began managing
small vineyards in Napa.
Matthew worked in wine production
at the prestigious Rudd Estate Winery in Oakville
for more than five years. He currently is the Cellar
Master at the new Caldwell Cave Winery where the Buonwines
are handcrafted and aged. The experience of working
at premium wineries in the Napa Valley provides all
four brothers with invaluable viticultural and wine
production knowledge. The experience also reinforces
the Buoncristiani Family Winery’s highest standard
of excellence.
Jay
attended Santa Clara University in California and
received a Bachelor of Science degree in the combined
disciplines of Chemistry, Biology, and Physics. After
graduation in 1996 he returned home to the Napa Valley
where intense home winemaking coupled with harvest
work at The Hess Collection Winery fueled a passion
for the art and science of wine.

A trip to Australia delayed original
plans for medical school but the voyage continued
his wine knowledge and progression into the wine industry.
Upon his return to Napa, Jay became the Enologist
for the Hess Collection Winery and started the family
winery and vineyard management company with his brothers.
In 2001 he was promoted to Winemaker
for the Hess Collection where he remained until the
spring of 2005. Jay has moved on from his day job
as winemaker to not only focus even more time on his
responsibility as Buoncristiani’s winemaker,
but also to pursue his current role as hands-on Consulting
Winemaker for various new Napa Valley labels.
Aaron
completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in Film Studies
at the University of California at Santa Barbara.
Working under the consultant winemaker Phillipe Melka,
Aaron started producing wines for the Caldwell label
in 2002. In the following year Aaron was promoted
to Assistant Winemaker. After three years with the
Caldwell label, Aaron pursued a new project with consultant
winemaker Phillipe Melka to continue crafting ultra
premium wines in Napa. Aaron is currently the Assistant
Winemaker and only employee working for Roy Estate
Winery. Aside from working directly with the vino,
Aaron’s passion in life revolves around the
Arts. The four brothers created the label concept
for the Artistico Series to feature Aaron’s
original artwork and merge different forms of art
expression.

Nate
has graduated from Chico State University where he
completed his Bachelor of Science degree in Business
Marketing. He has collaborated on many ideas regarding
marketing implications, wine production, sales, product
placement, and website design. Currently Nathan works
at Rudd Winery as a harvest analyst and a member of
the cellar production crew. He studied abroad in Northern
Italy where he experienced the origins of the family's
culture and traditions. His ideas and influence are
highly valued within the family winery.
