Even San Franciscans claim it’s “worth the pilgrimage” to this “fabulous restored 19th-century stone building” “off the main drag in St. Helena” for Hiro Sone’s “deeply satisfying”, “spectacularly original” New American fare (incorporating Italian, French and Japanese flavors), wife Lissa Doumani’s desserts that “dance on your palate”, the “extensive wine list” and the attentions of an “exceptional” staff; of course, “if you’re already in town, it’s a slam dunk.” As proprietors of Terra, a restaurant steeped in tradition and housed in a century-old fieldstone building in the Napa Valley wine country, and as chefs who are passionate about food, we have thought a lot about what compels us to cook. And what we have come to realize is this: at Terra, we cook from our hearts. That's why we named our cookbook Terra: Cooking from the Heart of the Napa Valley. |
