Liparita
Cellars - Liparita Cellar’s story was born
on Howell Mountain soil. When the original vineyard was planted
back in the late 1800s, it was named Liparita, or ‘little
Lipari’ because of the tremendous similarity between
the red and white soils of Howell Mountain and those of the
volcanic Lipari Islands off the coast of Sicily. Now over
100 years later, Liparita Cellars’ wines are still created
using fruit from some of the most unique and exciting vineyards
in the Napa Valley.

Marston
Family Vineyard - was first planted in the late
1890’s on the southern slopes of Spring Mountain, just
west of St. Helena. The vineyard is part of the appellation
known as the Spring Mountain District. The vineyards comprise
about 10 percent of the 400 acres of heavily wooded land.
The vines planted are Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Syrah.
During the growing season, the terraced hillsides, which range
in elevation from 700 to 1,100 feet, benefit from cool afternoon
breezes and daytime temperatures that are as much as ten degrees
cooler than the lower elevations of the Napa Valley.

Robert
Keenan Winery - Chardonnay was the first Keenan
wine released and it immediately established the winery as
a leading producer of Chardonnay. The Cabernet grapes came
into leaf and the resulting Cabernet vintages were immediate
successes. The 1978 was voted the best California Cabernet
of that vintage. The 1986 Cabernet was acclaimed as the 42nd
best Cabernet in the world by Wine Spectator. In 1978, Keenan
purchased a small volume of Merlot grapes as a way to also
acquire some desired Chardonnay grapes. The resulting Merlot
proved extremely popular and Merlot became a permanent part
of the winery's selection.

Round
Hill Vineyards - Ernie Van Asperen had spent
most of his life in the beverage business, for many years
operating over eighty Ernie's Liquors Stores throughout California.
He and wife Virginia decided to make a lifestyle change, to
the mellow pace of the largely undiscovered Napa Valley. Shortly
after their move to the hills west of historic St. Helena,
gentleman grape grower, Ernie decided to learn home winemaking.
After their first successful vintage, the couple, along with
long-time friend Charlie Abela, decided to try selling their
wines to a few retailers.

Sherwin
Family Vineyards - Natives of Clayton in San
Francisco's East Bay, Steve and Linda Sherwin yearned for
a quieter, more relaxed setting to raise their three children.
A series of weekend visits to the Napa Valley in 1996 finally
uncovered a thirty acre property near the top of Spring Mountain.
The property featured a beautiful home and a serene lake but
the real prize was the three acres of mixed old vine Cabernet
Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. These three acres are
in the same location that was originally part of a 500 acre
estate producing sought-after grapes in the late 1800's through
Prohibition.

Spring
Mountain Vineyard - The upper most property on
the estate, La Perla, was founded in 1873 by Charles Lemme
and expanded by the Schilling Spice family. Originally 285
acres it had the first Cabernet Sauvignon planted on Spring
Mountain. The old winery remains today along with much of
its original equipment and horse drawn carriages and wagons.
Immediately below La Perla, and eventually added to it was
the first vineyard planted by Fredrick and Jacob Beringer
in 1882. These terraced hillsides were planted in a wide assortment
of grape varieties to support the Beringer brothers’
fledgling winery.

Stonehedge
Winery
- Stonehedge’s mission is to produce wines that are
worlds apart from wines produced by the large producers or
corporate conglomerates. Stonehedge's philosophy is to produce
elegantly handcrafted wines that are affordable by the majority
of the population. In today’s world, after all the consolidations
and mergers, corporate giants who treat wine like liquor own
some of the even so called small producers. At Stonehedge,
we ritually believe that wine is a delicate and sensitive
product that must be handled with utmost respect and attention
to all details.

Vineyard
29 - 13,000 square feet of man-made cave space
serves not only as a dramatic showplace for our wines, but
provides precise regulation of temperature and humidity for
aging each barrel and bottle. Too many factors can adversely
affect a wine during the aging process--the wines' formative
years, so to speak. The extreme care taken to keep our caves
in optimal condition, both in terms of temperature regulation,
and overall cleanliness, allow us to ensure that the these
years are of pure benefit to the wine without the risk of
exposure to elements which might be harmful to aroma and flavor.
