The Ackerman’s Napa story started with their wedding in April 1989 when they were married at Auberge du Soliel in Rutherford. As they looked out over the beautiful, romantic vineyard countryside, they vowed that, someday, they would live in the Napa Valley. That day came in 1994 when Bob was looking to purchase a horse for Lauren, an avid rider. It just so happened that the horse he found was located on a beautiful 16-acre vineyard property in the eastern hills of Napa that was also for sale. Karma being what it is, the Ackerman’s bought the house and vineyard and were given the horse as part of the deal – their new life in the Napa Valley became a reality. |

| Andretti Winery | ||
|---|---|---|
Andretti Winery was established in 1996 and takes its inspiration from the distinguished career of its namesake and founder, Mario Andretti, widely regarded as the greatest race car driver of all time. When Mario retired after nearly five decades of competition, a commemorative wine was produced in his honor in 1994. That event sparked an interest in owning a winery. To accomplish this goal he teamed up with his former associate, Joseph E. Antonini, who as President, Chairman and CEO of Kmart, was one of Mario's major sponsors. Together they formed Andretti Wine Group (AWG Limited), a publicly traded stock company, to acquire property and build Andretti Winery, with Joe serving as Chairman and Mario as Vice Chairman. |

Artesa was born with the inaugural release of ultra-premium still wines in September 1999. |

| The vineyards, known as Paradise Hills, are stunningly beautiful with gorgeous views of the valley. Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot are planted on volcanic soil. Merlot is planted on a deep layer of alluvial clay deposited by streams draining the mountain range high above. Sustainable farming is practiced and the human hand is the connection between vines and wines. Our artisanal production is less than a thousand cases of a flagship proprietary red wine, Blankiet Estate, and a few hundred cases of a Saint Emilion inspired red wine named Rive Droite. | ||

| The turning point for Vic Bourassa, owner and proprietor of Bourassa Vineyards in the Napa Valley, really occurred over a lunch he had in 1999 with the godfather of California wine, Robert Mondavi. By that time Bourassa, who had moved to the Valley permanently three years before and had entered a second professional career in real estate development, was already a committed home winemaker. The chance to talk wine about the wine business with one of the most influential winery figures in the world was to be savored and appreciated. |

| Calistoga Cellars | ||
|---|---|---|
Without friendship, wine is altogether one-dimensional. Something to wash down a meal. But to those who love wine and wine-making, friendship is their core inspiration. From the winery to the tasting room to the dinner party, hospitality, celebration, dialogue, graciousness, romance and social gathering all contribute equally to the experience that is wine. Friendship likely never before has been taken to such lengths in the wine making business as when the original partners from around the United States joined forces to create Calistoga Cellars. Not the typical story of abandoning the rat race to settle into an earth-bound lifestyle in a leafy little wine country hamlet, Calistoga Cellars instead is owned primarily by ambitious professionals who keep their day jobs, but contribute immeasurably to the winery's success. |

| Castello di Amorosa | ||
|---|---|---|
Rising above the hills in the Napa Valley is Castello di Amorosa, which translates to the “castle of love” in Italian. Castello di Amorosa, an authentic-styled, 12th century Tuscan castle-winery complete with high walls and five defensive towers and over 30 acres of estate vineyards. It was built over a 15-year period by Dario Sattui, a fourth generation winemaker and owner of V. Sattui Winery in St. Helena, California. The Wall Street Journal cited Castello di Amorosa as a “must-see destination,” and more recently, the Contra Costa Times included Castello di Amorosa as one of the top destination wineries in the country. After decades of research, planning and studying medieval castles in Italy and Europe, Sattui commenced building in 1994. The Castello evolved to include 121,000 square feet, 107 rooms, (of which 95 are used for winemaking or wine storage) 8,000 tons of hand-squared stone, 8 levels (4 above ground, 4 below) 900 linear feet of caves, a great hall with two-story Italian frescoes, a drawbridge and a moat. |
