This extends beyond just selling wine. We sincerely care about establishing a long-term commitment and personal relationship with every customer. Winemaker Geoff Gorsuch (pronounced Jeff) crafts every wine with our customer's preferences in mind. This starts in the vineyard with sustainable farming practices without pesticides, and ends in the bottle with wines that reflect true varietal character. Our ultra-premium wines are approachable consistent and affordable, year after year. We also take pride in the fact that our wines are food friendly and complement a wide range of foods.

After nearly a decade of growing grapes, Dick and Ann brought their friend, renowned winery architect John Lail, in to design a uniquely charming and evocative building for making wine. The hand carved wooden entrance leads to a small, sculptured stone and wood sanctuary that evokes the kind of serenity and beauty found more commonly in the Buddhist temples of Nepal than in the wineries of California. This winery temple is a testament to a philosophy of living that transcends fine wine as a beverage, making it also a catalyst for change.

When Heitz Cellars opened in 1961, the Napa Valley had fewer than twenty wineries. Today there are more than two hundred. The original winery on St. Helena Highway is still open to the public as a sales and tasting room for visitors and is a glimpse into the origins of Heitz Cellars. Within a few years Heitz Cellars had outgrown the original premises and purchased the present 160 acre residence and ranch on Taplin Road, a narrow fold in the hills just east of St. Helena. The home property was originally developed as a vineyard and winery in the 1880s by the Swiss-Italian family of Anton Rossi.

Each of the 50 blocks at the ranch is a product of our efforts to discover the vineyard's full potential. To us, each block is an experiment and results are obtained very slowly. With our approach to farming, it takes about 7 years for root systems and canopies to reach full development and several more to understand how the wine will progress. As a result, it often takes 10 years to discover if our choice of clone, root, and varietal was appropriate for a given site. Our blocks will continue to change as we learn and try new things, and because they reflect the state of our vineyard, our wines will change as well. Expressing the individuality of these blocks in the wines made from them is educational for us and we hope it is for you too.

The Jarvis winemaking facility is totally contained within 45,000 square feet of cave tunneled into the scenic Vacas Mountains four miles east of the town of Napa. It is not only a visual masterpiece, but a technical masterpiece as well. The underlying principle behind the Jarvis cave construction is that a parabolic shaped tunnel is inherently stable, so the cave tunnels and chambers are in the shape of a true parabola. Throughout the cave’s design and fixtures you will find many arches, subtly echoing its parabolic structure. With the help of Jim Gangwer and other artisans, the cast bronze doors, brass wall sconces, arched alcoves, and fiber optic chandeliers add to the mystique and beauty of the cave. William Jarvis has designed and created a unique cave winery which functions to produce ultra-premium wine, but which in form alone creates an incredibly beautiful atmosphere in which to enjoy the very wine it produces.

Founded in 1972, Joseph Phelps Vineyards is an independent, estate-based winery located outside of St. Helena. Perched on a knoll in bucolic Spring Valley, the graceful redwood winery overlooks vineyard-studded hills, the town of St. Helena and the Mayacamas Mountains to the west. After years of studying the complex relationship between wine quality and place, and understanding the importance of "terroir," Phelps has developed estate-owned vineyards in the premiere growing regions of Stag's Leap, Rutherford, Oakville, Oak Knoll and the eastern foothills of Napa. In Sonoma County, an ambitious project was undertaken in 1999 to purchase land and develop vineyards along the western frontier of the Sonoma Coast, and today Phelps has 80 acres of Pinot Noir and 20 acres of Chardonnay planted in Freestone. A small winery in the midst of the Freestone vineyards is currently under construction.

Our first two vintages of wines the 2003 and 2004 were produced by Helen Turley. For 2005 we brought in Helen Turley’s recommendation; Rob Lawson, the winemaker at Napa Wine Company for the past 16 years, where most of Napa Valley’s super premium wines were originally crafted and are still produced to date along with Denis Malbec, from Chateau Latour, Pauillac; the First Growth winery in Bordeaux, France as our consulting winemakers. In 2007, Denis Malbec became our sole winemaking consultant.

We have seen a family dream come to fruition, from vine to tasting room, based primarily on the incredible diversity and quality of our vineyards. The stewardship of these vineyards began nearly twenty-five years ago when many pioneer farmers passed on critical knowledge and techniques to Ken Laird and later to son Justin, all in the spirit of kindness and helping hands. Several of these farmers, like Guillermo “Willie” Medina, were there in the beginning and continue to play core roles within our vineyard operations. Today Justin oversees nearly 2000 prime vineyard acres for Bayview Vineyards, the Laird’s vineyard management company. While Bayview Vineyards is small and completely family run, it serves over 35 ultra premium wineries including our own family label.

Madonna Estate wines have been handcrafted by the Bartolucci family, Napa Valley winegrowers and winemakers for more than eighty years. They are created from 100 percent organically grown grapes, which are dry farmed on the Estate Vineyard. Located in the world renowned Carneros Region, the Bartolucci's take great pride in the wines they craft. Through great skill, elegance and care, Madonna Estate wines are styled to capture the best of the vintage, the vineyard, and the variety. In addition to organic farming, Andrea believes dry farming is the best method to ensure maximum quality and grape flavor. Using the dry farming method the newly planted vines are irrigated only until they create an extensive root system. After the roots become established, all irrigation lines are removed and the vines are left to fend for themselves.

The Madrigal family originally came to California via Numarin Mexico in 1932. My grandparents boarded a train bound, or so they thought, for California. On a cold and snowy day the conductor told them it was time to get off and that they were in California. They were actually in Kansas and it was the middle of a cold and windy winter. My grandfather ended up having to work for the railroad for a few years until they saved enough money to continue on to California. When they arrived in California, they originally stopped in Azusa, a suburb of Los Angeles. My grandfather, not satisfied with his prospects in Azusa in '37, traveled north to join a cousin in a town called Calistoga. Convinced that a better life could be had here, he sent for his family and settled in a cabin that's a stone's throw from what is now Madrigal Estate.

We are very proud to be a family owned and managed winery. Our father, Jay Corley, came to Napa Valley in 1969 seeking land to plant and grow an estate vineyard. Thirty-five plus years later, sons Kevin, Chris and Stephen manage the winery: Kevin is our Winegrower and President, Chris is our Winemaker, and Stephen is our Director of Wine Sales. We are a small winery producing approximately 15,000 cases of wine annually designated Monticello Vineyards, Corley Reserve and Corley.

Patz & Hall Is the creation of four dedicated individuals - Donald Patz, James Hall, Anne Moses and Heather Patz - with an important diversity of experience and skills. Together, they have created one of California's most lauded artisan wine brands. James Hall and Anne Moses have spent their working careers in the production of fine wine. Between them, they have made wine at Flora Springs, Honig Cellars, Far Niente, Spring Mountain, Marimar Torres and Cain Vineyard.
